| Anybody still subscribed to me? I haven't done this for quite a while. We finally got (relatively) high speed internet over the summer, so maybe I can post some photos. Finding time is always the challenge. Life at our church is pretty good (even with budget woes). Personally, I'm involved in Sunday school and a weekly mom's group. I'm also helping put together our Advent by Candlelight program on December 6. It's a special night for the women to get their hearts ready for Christmas. My mom will be here for that too, so it will be extra special. Matt's work with the youth is going fairly well. The first year we were here he had about 4 regular attendees ("the faithful four"). Last week we had a good dozen at our house for pizza, and then they went to the park to play capture the flag in the dark. This Sunday, the high schoolers were supposed to go hiking (and I was going to go too), but the weather was bad, so Matt and I went to see a movie since we already had a babysitter. We saw Fireproof, a nicely done Christian chick flick. I was glad to see they didn't have a "sinner's prayer" in it for those of us who object to decision theology. Anyway, it was good. Today the kids are home from school for the fourth day in a row, and I'm letting them watch far too much TV. It's about time to wake Abby up from her nap and go the park or something while we still have some light. Most days I'd be getting her up to go get Daniel right now. Usually we ride bikes (with Abby in a trailer) to and from his school. Then we jump in the car to go get Maleah from our church's kindergarten. I haven't liked the time change. The low sun makes driving a bit more hazardous, especially with the tight school traffic that already gets stressful. Well, that's it for now. If you liked reading this, let me know and maybe I'll post again soon. Chris PS Have a safe trip Jung-ah! | | |
| Hi, I'm passing time here in our bedroom while Maleah plays on the floor. Daniel is out with a friend and Abby is sleeping. Maleah was playing too loudly out in the main room, so we came in here so we don't wake up Abby. She needs every minute of sleep, but pretty soon we will have to wake her up to go to the church's fun fair. It starts at 3, and I'll be helping with face painting and have to bring a few things Matt forgot (like the funnel cake supplies) so we'll have to leave by 2:30. I hope it goes well. We've never done it before and not as many people signed up to attend or to help as Matt had hoped. I should probably get off the internet in case Matt calls about anyhting. I was glad to see that I got an email on my regular account when Darren posted something. I wasn't sure if having a subscription would do that or not. Later, Chris | | |
| Abby's first tooth finally came through! I felt it tonight but could not get a glimpse of it. She doesn't like me messing around in there with my fingers. Lately I've had to put my fingers in her mouth a lot, because she's finding all sorts of things to put in it: old cheerios, cardboard, cat food, anything she finds. She's inspiring me to keep my floors cleaner. So are the people coming to view the house. My landlady brought a couple by tonight at 7 pm. The big kids had a meltdown while they were here. It was fun. We survived anyway (even with Daddy gone at church). After they left, we had a decent time reading bedtime stories and even singing together (once I won the battle to get Maleah to use the potty, that is). We did the parable of the wise & foolish builders for our Bible story and then sang a really fun song that has rain pouring down, floods going up and the foolish man's house going splat at the very end. We had to sing it three times. Usually Matt or I end up singing to them, not so much with them. Well, that's it for now. God's peace to you. | | |
| OK, Here's my 2nd entry. I don't think anyone's even reading this blog yet, because I haven't announced its existence. I'm not sure I'm going to keep this. My computer savvy brother in-law is willing to set me up with a web photo gallery. If I can make Xanga work for me, maybe I could spare him the effort. Yet, I know I'm limited in quantity with the pictures I would put on this and I think he'd enjoy setting it up for me, too. I need to take a moment and look at those limits for Xanga. (I found them, but I have a hard time thinking through the units). I also want to check out Tom's site and see how I like it. Anyway, I'm sure this is boring for anyone still reading. That paragraph doesn't sound like big plans. We have two big things coming up soon. We're soon moving to a bigger home (locally) and the kids and I are leaving Vegas for a whole month this summer! Matt will join us for some of that time too. Well, it's bedtime here so I'll post this. Oh, and about what I'm reading, I'm actually reading the original version of Dobson's book of which we happened to have a copy, but it was written in the late 70's so I'm going to try to get the newer version from the library. | | |
| This is my first attempt at a blog. I hope I can keep at it, but not tonight. I'll post more another day. I'd mostly like to use this for sharing photos. | | |
